Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School participates in the American Medical College Application & Letter Service. If you wish to submit an application for admission into the first-year class, apply directly through AMCAS.
Applications must include letters of recommendation (Pre-medical Advisory Committee evaluation or three academic recommendations) and MCAT scores in order to be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. RWJMS requires three letters of recommendation (or committee evaluation) and allows up to 10 letters, the additional letters do not need to be from professors. We do welcome committee letters, but do not require them.Secondary Application
Upon receipt of the AMCAS application, applicants will receive an email directing them to complete a secondary application as well as to submit an $80 application fee. The secondary includes one page of short answers to be returned by e-mail. The $80 application fee may be paid by credit card or mailed back by check. Instructions on submitting the fee will be sent by email.
In an effort to broaden the holistic review of medical school applicants, beginning with the 2018 cycle RWJMS has adopted the CASPer test as a required assessment tool for the pre-interview screening phase of the admissions process. This innovative tool will allow the admissions committee to better identify personal attributes of candidates, such as ethics, empathy, cultural sensitivity, collaboration, resiliency and adaptability. All applicants who receive a secondary application are required to complete the CASPer test. You may register for the CASPer test and select our school as one receiving scores prior to receiving our welcome letter and secondary instructions. Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Multiple Mini Interviews
Robert Wood Johnson Medical School utilizes Multiple Mini Interview Stations (MMI). The MMI is a series of 7 interview stations consisting of timed interview scenarios. Applicants rotate through the stations, each with its own interviewer and scenario. The MMI allows the Admissions Committee to assess applicant characteristics and attributes we believe are important components in becoming a competent and caring physician.
The individual members who participate in the MMI sessions will not have access to the AMCAS or Secondary application during the MMI session. While students can discuss their backgrounds, qualifications, experiences during their interview visit, it is important to understand that the stations and scenarios will be the focus.
